Organisational Structure Executive Management The Coastal Patrol is managed by an elected Board of seven, one of whom is elected annually as Chairperson of the Board. Operational Command The Operations structure is based on a military model that provides for maximum versatility and the clear chain-of-command essential during emergencies. The Coastal Patrol is led by the Officer Commanding (OC) with the rank of Commodore 1st Class who reports to the Board. The public face of the Coastal Patrol is represented by Divisions, most of which are also accredited Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centres (SARCCs). Each Division is under the immediate authority of a Divisional Commander. SARCCs are grouped by state regions, Far South, South, Central, North and Far North, each of which is headed by a Senior Regional Officer (SRO) who reports to the Officer Commanding. The Officer Commanding (OC) is assisted by two Deputy OC's (North & South), a Chief of Staff, a Government Liaison Officer and Education Officer. Other Senior Officers with responsibilities include: Assessment, Communications, SES Liaison and Awards, IT, Naval Liaison, PR & Marketing, OH&S, Security, Chaplain, Search Master, Lifeboat Inspectors north and south, Supply, Statistics and Training & Education Officers, also report to the OC. Vision We aim to be an organisation that: is recognised as foremost in the provision of maritime search and rescue; works in partnership with Police, Emergency Services, Ports and Harbour Authorities to promote knowledge and practice of safe boating; is on call to the Military and Customs in matters of security and border protection.
We are a team of dedicated volunteers who, through our network of Board of Directors and its Operational Command, committees, members and stakeholders, comprise a diverse community committed to carrying out activities to the benefit of all Australians.
